South Park Fire Damage Estimates at One Million Dollars According to Seattle Fire Investigator
June 19— Seattle Fire Department Investigator determine a morning fire inside s South Park manufacturing facility was an accidental fire. The investigator pinpointed the fire to an exhaust vent for the manufacturing floor.
The first fire call came in at 9:36 a.m. of reports of a fire on the roof of a one-story commercial building located in the 500 block of South Monroe Street. The caller indicated the fire had spread from the roof to the walls.
South Park Engine Company 26 could see the smoke and flames from several blocks away. When the firefighters arrived, all of the buildings occupants were safely outside the building. West Seattle Ladder Company 13 ran a ladder to the roof to fight the fire on the roof while Engine 26 and Engine 11 Firefighters fought the flames inside the building.
Within 12 minutes, firefighters knocked down the flames inside the building. It took 20 minutes to extinguish the flames on the roof.
Our fire investigator estimated the dollar loss of a million dollars to the structure and the contents.
