SEATTLE – On Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at 4:07 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to the 12300 block of 36th Avenue NE for a kitchen fire.
Firefighters arrived to find visible flames from the home with power lines down in the street. They quickly applied water from the exterior, working their way into the interior of the residence. The fire was successfully extinguished by 4:22 p.m.
There were no injuries from this incident. Seattle City Light was called to assist with power lines and the Red Cross to assist displaced occupants. There was one animal fatality.
Fire Investigation Unit members determined the cause of fire a result of unattended food on the stove. The estimated loss is $300,000.
