SEATTLE – On Sunday, February 26, 2017, at 1:44 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to the 5000 block of 12th Avenue South for a house fire.
Firefighters saw visible smoke from three blocks away as they were en-route to the scene. Upon arrival, they found flames coming from the basement and first floor with down power lines in the street. Firefighters quickly applied water from the outside before entering the home to extinguish the fire.
There were no injuries from this incident. Seattle City Light responded to cut power lines.
Fire Investigation Unit members determined the fire stemmed from an incendiary fire in the basement. Seattle Police Department’s Arson/Bomb Squad was notified for further investigation.
