SEATTLE – On Saturday, February 25, 2017, at 1:32 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to the 9000 block of 16th Avenue SW for a residential fire.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the structure with visible flames. They quickly applied water and evacuated adjacent buildings due to potential smoke inhalation and the risk of fire spread. Residents safely returned to their homes after the evacuated buildings were cleared for re-occupancy. Firefighters remained overnight to monitor and coordinate information about the fire with fire investigators who returned later in the morning.
There were no injuries from this incident. Seattle Public Utilities responded to coordinate water use and drainage.
Fire Investigation Unit members were unable to determine the cause of the fire due to the structure being unsafe to enter.
