SEATTLE – On July 23, 2017, at 6:57 a.m., firefighters responded to the 1900 Blk. of Westlake Ave. N. for a report of an adult male missing in Lake Union. It was reported that six people were on a 25-foot pleasure craft on the lake, when one adult male went into the water and did not surface.
Seattle Police Harbor Patrol arrived on scene and put divers in the water to begin the search. Seattle Fire Department’s Rescue One Company arrived on scene and four Seattle Fire divers and two rescue swimmers began assisting SPD in the search.
Fire and police officials gathered statements from witnesses and conducted targeted searches in the water for approximately an hour, unable to locate the patient. Seattle Fire Medics evaluated one patient aboard the pleasure craft who did not require treatment. The incident was turned over to SPD Harbor Patrol for follow-up.
