SEATTLE – The Fire Alarm Center received a 911 call from an Uber driver in the area at 10:12 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 12 reporting a residential house fire at the 5700 Block of South Eddy Street. Engine 28 arrived first on scene and reported fire visible from the left side of the residence. Crews applied water on the fire and had it under control within 23 minutes and it was completely extinguished by 10:46 a.m.

At the height of the fire, four engines and two ladder trucks were on-scene.  Crews searched the building and there were no reported injuries.  The two occupants were helped out of the house by the Uber driver prior to SFD arrival.

Fire investigators ruled the cause of the fire as accidental. The fire started in the bedroom and extended to other rooms in the home and the attic space. Estimated loss is $200,000 to structure and $50,000 to contents.
