Firefighters at Station 28 in the Rainier Valley will host an Open House on Saturday October 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to celebrate National Fire Prevention Month. The Seattle Fire Department invites members of the community to meet their local firefighters, take tours of the recently renovated fire station, and learn about fire safety in multiple languages.
Children’s activities will be planned throughout the day, as well as chances to win life-saving door prizes. Community Fire Safety Advocates from Seattle’s East African Community will be present to provide fire safety information in Amharic, Oromo, Somali and Tigrinya. Additional highlights include free blood pressure screening, and information on free CPR training, firefighter recruitment, and the Fire Cadet program for youth.
Fire Station 28 is located at 5968 Rainier Avenue South and is one of the busiest fire stations in the City. Ten firefighters working on Engine 28, Ladder 12 and Medic 28 respond to fire and medical emergencies in the Rainier Valley neighborhood.
