Seattle Fire Department’s technical rescue team utilized their skills to extricate a woman from her car after it crashed through a wall and into an elevator shaft. The woman, who survived the accident without significant injuries, was parked in a handicapped spot adjacent to the wall of the elevator shaft. The vehicle somehow lurched forward through the wall, falling about ten feet before landing nose down one floor below where she was originally parked. After ensuring that the vehicle and the wall were stable, firefighters broke through the wall of the shaft and pulled the woman to safety. The woman was transported to Harborview Medical Center as a precaution.
