December 28—A Seattle Fire Investigator determined an early morning fire inside a Madrona home was an Accidental Fire. The SFD investigator discovered an overheated electrical service line in the attic ignited the wood joists and rafters causing damage to the roof and attic space.
The Madrona home suffered 55 thousand dollars in damage during an early morning fire according to the Seattle Fire Investigator estimates. A family of three was displaced due to the fire and smoke damage.
At 3:22 a.m., Seattle Firefighters responded to a fire in the 800 block of 29 Avenue. Engine Company 6 arrived to find light smoke coming from the single story home with a basement. Ladder Company 3 searched the home. All three occupants safely evacuated before firefighters arrived.
Firefighters contained the fire to the attic. Within 25 minutes the flames were completely extinguished.
A Seattle Fire Investigator determined the fire caused an estimated 50 thousand dollars in damage to the structure and five thousand dollars in damage to the contents. There were no reported injuries.
Until noon today, Seattle Firefighters will remain on scene of the fire to ensure it does not reignite.
