January 26- Seattle Fire Investigators determined an early morning fire was an accidental fire caused by an improperly disposed of smoking materials. Dispatchers received a 911 at 2:02 a.m. of flames coming from the one-story home located in the 5900 block of 59 Avenue NE.
Engine Company 38 arrived to find flames coming from the rear of the home. All of the occupants safely evacuated. Firefighter’s aggressive attack contained the flames to the exterior back porch. It took only four minutes for firefighters to knock down the flames.
Investigators say the improperly disposed of smoking materials ignited cooking supplies and other combustible materials stored on the back porch. The damage estimate is $30,000. There were no injuries.
