March 2- Seattle Fire Investigators say an early morning fire in Rainier Valley was a set fire that is under investigation.
Engine 28 arrived to find smoke and flames coming from a first floor unit of a 3-story apartment building located in the 7500 block of Renton Avenue South. The initial 911 call at 3:24 a.m. Firefighters made forcible entry into the locked vacant apartment and knocked down the flames within 10 minutes. The quick actions of firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to any surrounding rooms or other apartment units.
Once firefighters determined the air quality was good, the evacuated residents were allowed back into their surrounding units. There were no reported injuries.
Investigators determined the fire caused $60,000 damage to the structure and $2,500 to the contents.
Detectives from the Seattle Police Department’s Arson Bomb Squad are actively investigating this case.
