June 24—Seattle Fire Investigators determined a fire inside a Genesee Park home was an accidental fire ignited by burning incense.
On Saturday June 24, firefighters knocked down a second-floor bedroom fire inside a home in the 4200 block of 42nd Avenue South.
At 3:09 a.m., a 911 caller reported flames coming from the back bedroom of the home. All of the residents safely evacuated before the first engine company arrived.
Engine Company 30 arrived in less than 3 minutes and found flames and smoke coming from the second floor back bedroom. Within 18 minutes of having water on the fire, firefighters completed extinguished the flames.
The American Red Cross was called to offer temporary housing to the two occupants who were displaced by the fire.
Seattle Fire Investigators estimate $65,000 in damage.
No one was injured.
