August 28 – A Seattle Fire Investigator determined a car fire last night in Ballard was caused by an overheated electrical system in a locked minivan. The cause is being ruled as accidental.
At 9:47 p.m., on Monday August 27, Seattle Firefighters were called to the 5700 block of NW 58th Street for reports of a car fire that extended to a the roof of condo building.
Within 10 minutes of arriving, firefighters had extinguished the flames. The car fire extended up the exterior wall of a 4-story condo building and caused damage to one window.
The burned minivan was locked and parked in a parking area by the condo building.
The damage estimate is $8250.
There were no injuries.
