September 6- Seattle Firefighters quickly extinguished a deck fire preventing it from spreading to the roof of a 6-story apartment complex on First Hill.
The call came in at 1:01 p.m. to the Fire Alarm Center reporting flames coming from a rooftop deck of an apartment building in the 400 block of Terry Avenue. Firefighters charged the buildings standpipe and were able to knock the flames down within a few short minutes.
Due to the quick response by the fire crews, the damage was limited to just a 10 foot by 10 foot section of wooden deck on the flat roof. The fire did not extend to the roof.
No injuries.
The most likely cause of the fire was improperly discarded smoking materials on the wooden deck.
