October 12— Seattle Fire Paramedics treated and transported a female in her 30’s after she jumped from a third floor burning room of a Queen Anne Apartment complex.
Just after 7:30 p.m., a 911 call came into the Fire Alarm Center reporting heavy black smoke coming from the third floor of an apartment complex in the 100 block of Etruria Street. When firefighters arrived they found the female occupant on the ground after jumping from the third floor. While medics evaluated and treated the female patient, firefighters began an aggressive attack and knocked down a mattress fire in less than 4 minutes.
Firefighters contained the fire to a third floor bedroom.
Medics transported the female patient in her 30’s to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition with a leg fracture and minor smoke inhalation.
The Fire Investigator determined the cause was accidental, improperly discarded smoking materials on the floor ignited the mattress. The damage estimate is $20,000 to the structure and $20,000 to the contents.
Red Cross was called for four adults, two males and two females, who were displaced by this fire.
