February 22- The Seattle Fire Department Hazardous Materials Team determined there a University of Washington building was safe to reoccupy this afternoon.
At 10:52 this morning, firefighter/dispatchers at the Fire Alarm Center received a call from the University of Washington Police Department regarding a smell of chemicals coming from the green house at a campus building. The first arriving crews evacuated the green house and the building it was attached to. According to the UWPD, a student smelled an unusual odor and called campus police.
The Hazardous Materials Teams donned their chemical protection suits and used air monitoring equipment to try and locate the cause of the chemical smell. After more than 3 hours on-scene, crews were not able to detect any dangerous or hazardous substances inside the structure. The building was determined to be safe to reoccupy.
There were no injuries and none of the people inside the building showed any symptoms.
