SEATTLE – On October 16, 2017, at 10:50 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to the 300 Block of 27th Avenue East for a primarily exterior fire at a duplex.
The first arriving engine company (Engine 34) saw smoke and flames coming from the back side of the duplex. The fire started on the porch of the south unit, spread to the porch of the north unit, and into both attic spaces. Engine 25 extinguished the interior fire with water and foam, while Ladder 10 and Ladder 3 searched both units. Occupants safely self-evacuated from the building, and did not require assistance from the American Red Cross.
