August 30—A West Seattle house fire was caused by overheated electrical wiring in the kitchen. A Seattle Fire Investigator is classifying the fire as an accidental fire.
At 10:27 a.m., neighbor from across the street called 911 to report smoke and flames in the living room of a one-story home located in the 3400 block of 44th Avenue SW. Engine Company 29 arrived first to find smoke and flames inside the home with a basement.
It took about 15 minutes for firefighters to completely extinguish the flames.
No one was home at the time of the fire. Firefighters rescued two dogs and a cat from the house. Animal Control officers are taking care of the pets until the owner can pick up the animals.
The damage estimate is $20,000.
No injuries were reported.
