September 20- Seattle Firefighters saved a sinking house boat on Lake Union. At 7:10 a.m., a caller told Fire Dispatchers a two story house boat was taking on water. The under construction vessel was located on East Allison Street. No one was on board the vessel when it began to sink.
When Engine 22 arrived, they entered the 40 foot sinking vessel and found it listing by 10 degrees. Crews were able to turn off the water running to the boat. Seattle Firefighters along with officers from the Seattle Police Harbor Patrol Unit pumped water from the boat.
Within 45 minutes, the boat was no longer listing. Department of Ecology arrived on scene and Seattle Public Utilities sent out a spill team. Investigators are looking at a possible broken pipe as the cause.
