April 9—Seattle Fire Investigators determined a Rainier Valley house fire was an accidental electrical fire caused by a wall socket.
At 11:23 p.m. Monday night, the Fire Alarm Center received multiple 911 calls reporting flames coming from a one-story home located in the 4000 block of Letitia Ave South. The fire arriving engine company found flames coming from the back of the home and from the side of the house.
All of the occupants of the house safely evacuated before firefighters arrived. Firefighters recovered the families two pet dogs which were found deceased in a back bathroom.
It took firefighters just under 30 minutes to completely extinguish the flames.
None of the occupants or firefighters was injured.
Fire investigators determined the fire started in a bedroom wall socket and extended to the bed and the rest of the first floor of the house. Damage estimates are $150,000 to the structure and $50,000 to the contents.
The Red Cross was on scene to assist the displaced residents.
