May 29-This morning the Seattle Fire Department Hazardous Material Team responded to 500 block of 15th Avenue for reports of a possible leak.
At 6:27 a.m. a patient reported that they felt sick after coming off the elevator on the third floor of the medical center. The patient thought the source of the odor was coming from a ventilation system.
The patient was examined and determined to not need medical treatment.
The Seattle Fire Department assisted in the evacuation of 12 patients from the third floor who were connected to medical devices. Those patients were moved to the lobby of the facility until the building was deemed safe.
The hazardous material team made entry with their specialized protective suits and analyzed the air. The team determined there was nothing hazardous or dangerous in the air.
The source of the odor was reported by employees to be a laptop computer on the second floor that sent an odor up to the third floor through the ventilation system.
At 7:33 a.m. firefighters determined the building was safe to reoccupy and patients returned to the third floor.
