March is Red Cross Month

Red Cross Month

Anytime a major fire or other disaster displaces people from their home, the Red Cross shows up to provide assistance and find shelter. We often hear about the work of the Red Cross during major disasters such as major hurricanes and earthquakes but they are working every day to support people in need. When not responding to emergencies, the Red Cross is providing critical training in first aid, CPR as well as holding blood drives.

What else does the Red Cross do?

  • Responds to more than 60,000 disasters across the country providing hope and comfort to people in need.
  • Trains and provides information to more than 4.5 million people in first aid, water safety and other skills that help save lives.
  • Collects more than 6.4 million units of blood from nearly 2.6 million volunteer donors to meet the needs of patients at hospitals and transfusion centers across the country.

Consider participating in a Red Cross event or taking one of their many trainings. The Red Cross relies on donations to maintain this important work.
