Seattle — At 6:36 a.m., the Seattle Fire Department’s Fire Alarm Center received 911 calls reporting heavy smoke coming from a boarded-up vacant warehouse on the 1000 block of S. King St. When firefighters arrived on scene they confirmed smoke and flames breaching through the roof of the warehouse. As a safety precaution, crews transitioned to a defensive strategy by pouring water on the fire at a safe distance away from the building.
At 6:45 a.m., the incident was upgraded to a 2-alarm response to request additional units to protect an adjacent building from the fire. Firefighters searched the adjacent building to confirm no one was inside and no fire spread through. At 9:15 a.m., the fire was declared under control. Crews will remain on scene throughout the morning until the fire is fully extinguished. No injuries were reported. Cause of the fire is under investigation.
