Seattle — At 12:51 a.m., the Seattle Fire Department’s Fire Alarm Center received 911 calls reporting a fire in a 13-unit condominium complex in the 8800 block of Nesbit Ave. N. in the North Greenlake neighborhood. When firefighters arrived on scene, they reported flames extending through all three floors of the building and toward a second condominium complex to the south. Given the circumstances, incident command requested a 2-alarm response where nine fire engines, five ladder trucks, Rescue One and additional command or support units were dispatched. Totaling over 70 firefighters.
Firefighters worked quickly to evacuate both buildings and put water on the fire. Additional crews searched both buildings and determined no occupants were left in the building. The fire was under control by 1:32 a.m., and a unit remained on scene through the morning for fire watch.
King County Metro provided a warming bus for the displaced residents while Seattle City Light and Puget Sound Energy shut off electricity and natural gas to the primary building as a safety precaution. No injuries were reported, but multiple units in both buildings were displaced. The American Red Cross responded to help the displaced residents.
Investigators ruled the fire was intentionally set (incendiary) and shared their findings with Seattle Police.
