Crews battle fatal housefire in Central District

SEATTLE – At 5:22 p.m. on March 26, Seattle Fire Department’s Fire Alarm Center received 911 calls reporting a fire in a home in the 700 block of 20th Ave. in Seattle’s Central District.

The first firefighters who arrived on scene reported black smoke coming from the home. Firefighters quickly entered the building and put water on the fire. During the primary search, crews found and rescued an 87-year-old female from inside the burning home. Crews attempted lifesaving measures on the patient, but unfortunately, she was declared deceased at the scene.

Crews extinguished the fire at approximately 5:55 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
