SEATTLE, Wash. — Just after 6 p.m. on Dec. 11, the Seattle Fire Department’s Fire Alarm Center received 911 calls reporting a fire in a home in the 11000 block of Bartlett Ave. NE.
When crews arrived on scene, they saw flames coming from the front of the house. Firefighters fought the fire with a defensive strategy because of the large volume of smoke and downed power lines in front of the home.
After about an hour fighting the fire defensively, firefighters transitioned to an offensive approach, attacking the fire from inside the home.
Crews put the fire under control after about an hour on scene.
One resident was displaced. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Updated Monday, Dec. 15: Investigators ruled the fire as accidental. Likely caused by overloaded electrical circuits or improperly discarded smoking materials.
